Newburyport Youth Football and Cheerleading League

Welcome to Newburyport Cheering! 

Registration is now open. Please register by June 30, 2019 to allow coaches time to choreograph and plan for the upcoming season. 

Practice:
*All teams will practice at Nock Middle School Gymnasium 
     -  Inspiration Team: TBD
     -  A Team (Grades 7 & 8): TBD
     -  C Team (Grades 5 & 6): TBD
     -  D/E Team (Grades 1-4):  Games only, until we have a coach.
*Practice times are determined in partnership with Nock Middle school no earlier than August with priorities given to HS sports programs and Youth Services before Cheer.

Gear:
     -  Uniform is issued on loan by the league.  Bows, Body Liners, Bloomers, and socks can be ordered through the website. 
     -  Cheerleading shoes can be ordered on Amazon, Nfinity, or Dick's. 
     -  All other gear can be ordered through Sew Forth www.mascogear.com/store2/newburyportcheer/index.php

Games:
Games are assigned by the league typically by the end of August.  2019 all Cheerleaders follow A Team's game schedule.

     1.  Ipswich Cheer for a Cure 11/09/19, Team Times by Competition officials, 3 days before the event.
          Date:  ~10/19/19
          Times:  Team performance times released by Competition officials ~3 days before the event.
          Location: Ipswich High School

     2.  Cape Ann Youth Cheer League 11/09/19, Team Times by Competition officials, 3 days before the event.
          Date:  11/02/19
          Times:  Team performance times released by League officials ~3 days before the event.

     3.  New England Cheer & Dance Competition

From Southeast Expressway
Southeast Expressway to Mass. Ave./Roxbury Exit--straight off ramp--- through lights (Mass. Ave.) on to Melnea Cass Boulevard.  Follow to end and go left onto Tremont Street.  RLTAC is 1/4 mile on left.

From the Boston Logan Airport
25 Logan Airport, East Boston, MA 02128
When leaving the airport, follow signs to Boston and go thru the toll booth.  The toll fee is $3.00.  After the toll booth, enter the tunnel and follow the directions toward 93 South/Southeast Expressway.

Take the Orange Line to Roxbury Crossing.  The Center is directly across the street from the station.

WHERE TO PARK:

RLTAC/RCC Lot 1- Free Parking
Proceed on Malcolm X Boulevard to the intersection of Columbus Ave and Tremont Streets where you’ll come to a traffic light. Take a left onto Columbus Ave and proceed to the next set of traffic lights. At the traffic light take a left onto Cedar Street. Go 30 yards and take a right into Parking Lot 1 at Roxbury Community College. Go to the far end and park in an available space.  If Lot 1 is FULL, proceed to Lot 2 (New Heath Street) or Lot 3 (Centre Street) and park there.

RLTAC/RCC Lot 2- Free Parking 
To get to Lot 2, take a right out of Lot 1 onto Cedar Street and take a left onto Columbus Avenue. Then, take the next left onto New Heath Street. Go 30 yards and take a right into Parking Lot 2.

Renaissance Parking Garage @ Northeastern University for Spectators

Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue/Roxbury/Frontage Road). Turn left at the third light, staying in one of the two left lanes. Proceed straight onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Continue for approximately two miles and turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Avenue.

Welcome to Newburyport Football & Cheerleading League

The Newburyport Youth Football and Cheerleading League is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization for youth to develop football (grades 3-8) and cheerleading (grades 1-8) skills. Our program promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our participants build character and confidence as they gain responsibility and self-discipline. NYFCL provides a way for our athletes to develop lasting friendships, share great memories, learn valuable life lessons, and have lots of fun while in a safe and positive environment!

Our cheerleading divisions are set up by age:     


Grade 1-2        E-team (Mascot)

Grade 3-4        D-team

Grade 5-6        C-team

Grade 7-8        A-team

 
General Information:

  • All teams practice twice per week for 1-2 hours depending on age: Mon-Thur w/games on weekends: Sat or Sun
  • We have reserved the Nock Gym for all team practices between 5:00-8:00 pm and will also utilize the outdoor fields.
  • Just as with ANY sport, all practices, games and competitions are mandatory.  (Please see schedule below)

Important Dates:

  • August 5 - Cheer Season officially begins
  • Week of August 21 - team practices (2 hrs/2x/wk) ~ (mandatory– unless traveling)
  • Week of August 28 - team practices (2 hrs/2x/wk) ~ (mandatory-first week of school)
  • Games are on Saturday or Sunday and vary by team and weekend (click on football schedule for dates and times and places)
  • October 19 -Ipswich Cheer for a Cure Competition
  • November 2 - Cape Ann Youth Cheerleading Competition
  • November 9 - New England Cheer & Dance Competition 
  • November 10 - CAYFL Super Bowl
